The X-S20 is one of the most complete sub-500 g hybrids you can buy. It folds the X-Processor 5's subject-detection autofocus, 7-stop IBIS, and open-gate 6.2K video into a body that travels effortlessly, while the larger NP-W235 battery finally gives an X-S camera real endurance at roughly 750 shots. The compromises are honest — a single card slot, a modest EVF, and no weather sealing — but for stills shooters who also shoot serious video, very little at this price competes. It is an easy recommendation for content creators and travellers who want one camera that does both well.
Perfect travel hybrid
Carried it across three countries on one strap. The battery genuinely lasts a full day of mixed stills and 4K clips, and the Film Simulations mean I barely edit. IBIS lets me shoot handheld at 1/8s without blur. The single card slot is the only thing I'd change.
Brilliant for video, EVF is just OK
Open-gate 6.2K is a dream for reframing reels and YouTube. Subject AF locks onto my dog instantly. My only gripe is the viewfinder — it's usable but lower-res than I expected, and there's no weather sealing so I baby it in the rain.
Upgraded from X-S10, no regrets
The battery alone justifies the upgrade — roughly double what my X-S10 managed. Autofocus is far more confident in low light and the buffer clears faster. Files are gorgeous straight out of camera. Highly recommend for anyone shooting both photo and video.

It pairs a 26.1 MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS 4 (BSI) sensor with the X-Processor 5. That processor is what enables the AI subject-detection autofocus, the higher-resolution video modes, and faster overall response versus the older X-S10.
The X-S20 has 5-axis in-body image stabilisation rated up to 7 stops of compensation, depending on the lens. It makes handheld stills at slow shutter speeds and run-and-gun video noticeably steadier.
Internally it shoots 6.2K/30p open-gate (using the full sensor area), 4K/60p, and Full HD up to 240p for slow motion. It records 4:2:2 10-bit internally and supports F-Log2 for grading.
Around 750 frames per charge (CIPA) in normal mode thanks to the larger NP-W235 battery — a big jump over the X-S10. In economy mode the figure is higher, and the camera charges and runs over USB-C.
