The Xiaomi 17 Pro packs the Pro Max's headline hardware - the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a Leica triple camera with a 5x periscope, and a rear 'Magic Back' screen - into a far more comfortable 192 g, 6.3-inch body, with a still-large 6300 mAh battery and 100W charging. It throttles sooner than the Pro Max and its 5x periscope is dimmer, and it's China-only at launch. But as a compact flagship that gives up very little, it's hard to beat.
Finally a flagship that fits the hand
I skipped the Pro Max because it's huge - this gives me the same chip, the same rear screen and the same Leica main camera at 192 g. The 6300 mAh battery still easily lasts a full heavy day. The Magic Back screen is genuinely handy for selfies on the main camera. Best compact flagship I've used.
Brilliant size, cameras are very good
Performance is instant and the screen is gorgeous. The 5x zoom is a little dimmer than the Pro Max in low light, but for daylight and portraits it's great. Only real downside is that it gets warm and slows a touch during long gaming sessions. Still, the size-to-power ratio is unmatched.
Great phone, import hassle is real
Imported mine since it's China-only, and I lost a couple of 5G bands here. HyperOS 3 needed the usual debloat. But the hardware is top-tier and the smaller body makes it the one I actually want to carry. Wish Xiaomi would launch it officially.

It's a 2.66-inch (marketed 2.7-inch) LTPO AMOLED 'Magic Back' screen (572 x 904, 120Hz, up to 3500 nits) built into the camera island. It can show widgets, wallpapers and notifications, act as a viewfinder, and let you take selfies using the higher-quality main rear cameras. It is smaller than the Pro Max's 2.9-inch rear screen.
It has a 6300 mAh silicon-carbon battery - smaller than the Pro Max's 7500 mAh cell but still large. It supports 100W wired HyperCharge, 50W wireless charging, and 22.5W reverse wireless charging.
Qualcomm's 3 nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (SM8850-AC) with an Adreno 840 GPU, paired with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage. In the smaller Pro body it sustains slightly lower clocks under heavy, prolonged load than the Pro Max.
The Pro is smaller and lighter: a 6.3-inch display versus 6.9 inches, a 6300 mAh battery versus 7500 mAh, a 2.66-inch rear screen versus 2.9 inches, a 192 g weight versus about 219 g, and an f/3.0 5x periscope versus the Pro Max's brighter f/2.6 unit. Both share the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 50 MP Leica main camera, 100W wired charging and IP68 sealing.

At launch it is a China-only release, with a broader international rollout only following in early 2026. Outside China it is largely obtainable as a grey-market import, which affects warranty and 5G band support. There is no official Bangladesh launch.
In China it starts at CNY 4,999 (about $700) for 12 GB + 256 GB, rising to CNY 5,999 for 16 GB + 1 TB. As a China-only import, Bangladesh grey-market listings run roughly BDT 1,05,000 to BDT 1,35,000 depending on the variant.

The 6300 mAh cell still clears a heavy day with room to spare. The catch is the same as its bigger sibling - at launch it's a China-only release.

The compact body is a double-edged sword: it sustains the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 at lower clocks than the Pro Max and throttles sooner under prolonged load, and reviewers note Xiaomi tunes the chip conservatively across the 17 series. The cameras are very capable but the 5x periscope (f/3.0) is a step behind the Pro Max's brighter f/2.6 unit. It runs HyperOS 3 with the usual bloat, and the big asterisk is availability - it's a China-only launch, so elsewhere it's grey-market import only.
The Xiaomi 17 Pro is the flagship to pick if you want top-tier hardware without a giant phone: the same chip, second screen and Leica cameras as the Pro Max, in a 192 g frame with a still-large 6300 mAh battery.
