The Xiaomi 13 Ultra set the bar for camera phones in 2023 and still impresses. A 1-inch IMX989 main with a real f/1.9-f/4.0 variable aperture, twin Leica telephotos, a bright LTPO screen and strong battery life make it a photographer's tool, and prices have dropped sharply. The mediocre selfie camera, inconsistent night video, MIUI bloat and now-dated Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 are the catches - but for stills, it remains a standout.
Still the most versatile camera phone I've used
Four 50 MP sensors that all actually deliver - the 1-inch main is stunning and the 5x periscope keeps detail far further than I expected. The variable aperture is genuinely useful for portraits versus landscapes. With the grip accessory it feels like a proper Leica compact. Battery easily lasts a full heavy day too.
Brilliant rear cameras, weak selfies
The rear system is in a class of its own, but the 32 MP front camera is a clear letdown and night video can get noisy. MIUI 14 also needed a cleanup of pre-installed apps. If you mostly shoot with the back cameras - and you will - it's superb. Just don't buy it for selfies.
Now a value camera king
Performance from the 8 Gen 2 is still plenty fast and the screen is gorgeous. It's a 2023 chip so it's not the newest, but for the camera you get at today's prices it's hard to beat. Stereo speakers are loud and clear. Wish it were easier to buy officially in our region.

It pairs a 1-inch 50 MP Sony IMX989 main sensor with a stepless f/1.9-f/4.0 variable aperture, plus a Leica quad layout: a 50 MP 3.2x floating telephoto, a 50 MP 5x periscope, and a 50 MP ultrawide. It topped DXOMARK's camera ranking at launch.
The 4 nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (SM8550-AB) with an Adreno 740 GPU, paired with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. It's a 2023 flagship chip, two generations behind the Snapdragon 8 Elite.
The global model has a 5000 mAh battery. It supports 90W wired HyperCharge (about 35 minutes to full), 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging.
Yes. It carries an IP68 rating, meaning it is dust-tight and water-resistant in up to 1.5 m of fresh water for 30 minutes. It is not built for swimming or saltwater.
The 13 Ultra (2023) uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a 1-inch Sony IMX989 main with an f/1.9-f/4.0 variable aperture, a 2600-nit screen, and MIUI 14. The 14 Ultra (2024) upgrades to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a newer 1-inch Sony LYT-900 with a wider f/1.63-f/4.0 aperture, a brighter 3000-nit screen, faster 80W wireless charging, and HyperOS.
No to both. There is no 3.5 mm headphone jack - audio is over USB-C or Bluetooth 5.3 - and storage is not expandable via microSD.
It launched globally at around EUR 1,499 for 12 GB + 512 GB and has since been discontinued. It had no official Bangladesh launch, so grey-market and used listings now run roughly BDT 99,000 to BDT 132,000 depending on the variant and condition.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra was the 2023 phone that set the modern camera-flagship template, and it still holds up as one of the most versatile shooters ever made. Its centerpiece is a 1-inch 50 MP Sony IMX989 main sensor with a variable f/1.9-f/4.0 aperture, joined by twin 50 MP telephotos - a 3.2x floating lens and a 5x periscope - plus a 50 MP ultrawide, all Leica-tuned. Around it sits a 6.73-inch 2600-nit LTPO AMOLED, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and a 5000 mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless charging.
This is a photographer's phone through and through. The four 50 MP sensors cover ultrawide to long telephoto with consistent quality, the variable aperture gives real control over depth of field, and the optional Photography Kit grip and 67 mm filter thread bring a camera-like experience. With prices now far below its lofty launch, it's also an appealing buy for anyone who wants top-tier camera hardware without paying flagship money - as long as they accept 2023-era silicon.
Camera: a Leica quad - a 1-inch 50 MP main (IMX989) with f/1.9-f/4.0 variable aperture, a 50 MP 3.2x floating telephoto, a 50 MP 5x periscope, and a 50 MP ultrawide.
Display: a 6.73-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED at 120 Hz, up to 2600 nits peak, with Dolby Vision and Gorilla Glass Victus.
Performance: the 4 nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with up to 16 GB LPDDR5X and 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
Charging: a 5000 mAh battery with 90W wired (full in ~35 min), 50W wireless and 10W reverse wireless.
Even a camera legend has weak spots. The 32 MP selfie camera is mediocre, night video can come out dark and noisy, and stabilization is inconsistent at 60fps. It shipped on Android 13 with MIUI 14 - bloatware and regional ads included - and now runs two generations behind the latest Snapdragon. Official global availability was limited to a single 12 GB + 512 GB config, so most stock today is grey-market or used. There's no headphone jack and no expandable storage.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra remains one of the great camera phones - a 1-inch variable-aperture main and a dual-telephoto Leica kit that topped DXOMARK in its day. At today's reduced prices it's a tempting pick for photographers who don't need the newest chip. Line it up against current flagships in our specs compare tool.
The 2023 camera benchmark: a 1-inch variable-aperture main, a 3.2x and 5x Leica zoom kit, and a 2600-nit screen on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
